Among the wonderful technological discoveries which men of talent, especially in the present era, have made with God's help, the Church welcomes and promotes with special interest those which have a most direct relation to men's minds and which have uncovered new avenues of communicating most readily news, views and teachings of every sort. – Pope Paul VI, Inter Mirifica, 1963

Truly, there is no area of human experience, especially given the vast phenomenon of globalization, in which the media have not become an integral part of interpersonal relations and of social, economic, political and religious development. – Pope Benedict XVI, World Communication Day, 2008

Meet The Catholic Media Association (TCMA)

In his book Megatrends, John Naisbitt warned of the impending crisis that is inherent in the era of New Technology which he could have only envisioned 30 years ago. He talked then of the need for “High Touch” in the world of “High Tech.”

The Catholic Media Association has come into existence to put humanity into the digital equation and provide the human touch needed in the world of new technologies.

“Association” is more than a word or title for us; it means coming together in fellowship. We are associating as faithful Catholics for interpersonal relationships and personal formation. Our goal is two-fold: enhance character and encourage Godly practice within the media.

While skill development in the media is necessary, how much more we, who are called to fulfill the Church’s work in world, need to be formed in His likeness.

Located in the greater Washington, D.C. metropolitan area, TCMA is also in a perfect place to keep our membership informed on any government legislation or initiatives that affect us. We can serve as a unified voice for our constituents to those who are within and around government.

In summary, TCMA is:
  • A true association formed and dedicated to the equipping, educating, networking, and representation of its membership.
  • A faith-based association committed to maintaining fidelity to the Pope and Magisterium of the Catholic Church
  • A unique association that seeks to utilize all forms of media to deliver a values-based message.
  • An evolving association that will stay abreast of the methodologies and technologies utilized by its membership, and non-members in the media industry.
